Someone at SimHQ requested a Hellcat for the P-47D slot -- so here it is. I used Mr. Jelly's MogProg to swap the files, then maunally corrected the ones that wouldn't change. To install, just unzip into your EAW directory or use OAW.

I don't know if anyone needs the glide files, but I changed those and included them also. Below is the origianl readme from Capt. Kurt.

Cheers!

New EAW standard Grumman F6F-5 early version Hellcat

This was a Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat of VF-83 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Essex. The -5 was similar to the earlier -3 model, but deleted the rear cockpit glass window, and had a new, over all dark blue camouflage, a more powerful engine, wing hard points for rockets, etc. USN carrier air units in 1944 and 1945 adopted geometric tail and wing designs to identify the individual air unit, in this case the locked triangles used for VF-83. VF-83 scored 137 confirmed kills and 60 ground kills during their tour from April 1945 to August 1945.

By (in alphabetical order) Captain Kurt, Claudio Wilches, George (Geo) Lekko and Steven Day.

This 3DZ model is a completely redone version of a wire frame of the F6F Grumman Hellcat taken from Microprose's old "1942: Pacific Air War" sim. Geo did most of the really hard 3DZ work to add non-mirrored insignia and markings, smaller prop and hub, and assorted other detail tweaks to the 3DZ. Steven Day did the (in the writer's opinion) truly superb paint job. Claudio Wilches created the virtual cockpit. Captain Kurt made the new over-all shape for the airframe. Thanks must go out to Mike "Redeyes" Lask (King Beta ;-)), JP, and Mark Tucker for their help in the Beta testing of Geo's modifications.

For use with Charles Gunst's ECA (Enemy Coast Ahead) Panel using the P-47C slot. There are two versions of the skin included - one is a D3D graphics card compatible and the other is a Glide card compatible.

To install, just unzip the common *.TPC and *.3DZ files into your EAW directory which provide the basic shapes and cockpit. Then choose which of the *.TPC files for the skin markings you want to load - Glide or D3D, and install the *.TPC files inside into the EAW directory too. Only one skin version can be loaded at a time. To uninstall it, just delete the files you installed.

Have fun,

Captain Kurt
